I've done the majority of everything with heroes/hench, but some missions give me trouble, I've yet to try gates of pain with the heroes/hench, but I dont really know if I want to bother.

I guess the biggest problem with hench in RoT is that they will bunch up and get hit with the many AoE spells used. There needs to be a formation button so you can set up hench to spread out more.
